BioMed Realty is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to provide onsite and remote support to our west coast life science real estate portfolio: San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, Boulder. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of hands-on coordination, technical problem solving, and data-driven facilities support. The Facilities Coordinator will work closely with Facilities Managers and site teams to help maintain building systems, manage vendors and service requests, support projects, organize drawings and asset information, and assist with utility and energy tracking.
This is a great opportunity for someone early in their facilities career who wants exposure to building operations in a dynamic life sciences environment. The successful candidate will be organized, responsive, technically curious, and comfortable working across a wide range of responsibilities, from work order coordination and documentation to building systems support and emergency response.
Previous experience in facilities, building operations, engineering support, property operations, construction coordination, or a related field is beneficial, but not required.
Interest in facilities, building operations, engineering support, or technical coordination work
Basic understanding of commercial building systems such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or building controls is helpful
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
Detail-oriented and proactive in tracking tasks, documentation, and follow-up items
Ability to work effectively with internal teams, contractors, vendors, and service providers
Comfortable working with Excel, work order systems, and general business software
Ability to learn new systems and technical tools quickly
Ability to problem solve and find practical solutions in a fast-paced environment
Willingness to support both routine activities and urgent operational needs
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, facilities management, or a related technical field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with CMMS, BAS/BMS, utility tracking tools, or technical documentation
Exposure to facilities work in life sciences, laboratories, greenhouse operations, manufacturing, healthcare, higher education, or commercial real estate
Familiarity with reading floor plans, equipment schedules, and MEP-related drawings
Experience supporting vendors, service contracts, maintenance programs, or small projects
Ability to move throughout office, laboratory, greenhouse, and building support areas
Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and perform site walks as needed
Ability to hold a valid California driver’s license and potential to be covered by a company vehicle insurance plan
