As a Field Engineer at Fisk Electric , reporting to the Project Manager, you will provide technical/engineering support to ensure heavy civil construction work complies with the design, technical requirements, codes and standards. Requires civil background, preferably with construction submittals, subcontractor management, and/or relevant field quality control inspection experience.

Responsibilities

Provide technical/engineering support to ensure heavy civil construction work complies with the design, technical requirements, codes and standards.
Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
Coordinate with subcontractors on advance material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.
Develop/assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.
Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.
Prepare, update and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.
Monitor and participate daily in the field construction process.
Provide layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements.
Obtain confirmations from design engineer as needed.
Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring of correspondence, submittals, RFI's, and performance records; Maintain accurate payment records.
Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management from an accredited institution.
5 or more years of experience on Heavy Civil projects.
Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA Requirements.
Project controls techniques (i.e. cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts).
Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
Strong work ethic - Highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

A strong working knowledge of critical path method, resource scheduling.
Working knowledge and experience with Primavera P6.
